“16.1 KILOMETERS”

My photo project is called “16.1 Kilometers” and it will run through spring 2026

It looks at the distance between two municipalities just outside Copenhagen: Gentofte, which is the richest urban municipality in Denmark, and Albertslund, which is the poorest.

There are only 16.1 kilometers between their town halls, but a huge difference in income and everyday life.

I will photograph both places in parallel using a Leica film camera in black and white. The project is built around visual pairings with similar situations in both places: housing, schools, public space, religion, and daily life.

I’m interested in how inequality becomes visible in the physical world, but also in showing that both places contain value, community, and identity.

I grew up in Albertslund and have close friends in Gentofte, so I have a personal connection to both.

The goal is to create a photographic essay where the viewer begins to compare the two realities and reflect on how close they actually are.
